Funding the Mission

How the Foundation proposes to fund its work, how it would be structured, and the steps ahead.

Funding the Mission

Where support would go.

Proposed revenue sources include individual gifts, corporate contributions, project grants, and expedition fees. Philanthropic support would fund publicly accessible historical research, educational activities, assistance for selected participants, and core administration.

Fees would ordinarily cover direct costs for self-paying participants. Financial assistance would be awarded through documented criteria and protected as confidential participant information.

Initial fundraising target under consideration

$70,000 – $100,000

A detailed budget and donor commitments would be needed before programs are launched. Charitable fundraising would begin through an appropriately established legal arrangement.

Proposed Institutional Structure

Independent and accountable.

The proposed structure is an independent US nonprofit corporation applying for recognition as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Its board would include the co-founders and independent directors. Initial governance would be volunteer-based, with contractors engaged for specific services and independent review of any founder compensation.
